Classic Banana Bread Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas (The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful the bread will be.)

  • 1/3 cup melted butter

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Optional add-ins

  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a large saucepan. Remove from heat.

  • Mash bananas in a large bowl with a fork until smooth.

  • Mix in melted butter with the bananas.

  • Add sugar, egg, and vanilla, and stir until combined.

  • Sprinkle in baking soda and salt, then mix.

  • Add flour and stir until just combined (don’t overmix).

  • Fold in optional ingredients like nuts or chocolate chips if using.

  • Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan and pour batter into loaf pan and smooth the top.

  • Bake for 50–60 minutes at 350°F (175°C), or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  • Let the bread cool for about 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and cool fully on a rack.
